Order Microsoft Windows 7
In Windows 7, Internet Explorer 8 Can Be UninstalledThe controversial Internet Explorer browser can now be uninstalled from the Windows 7 operating system, complying with the numerous objections of the European Union under the claim that the inclusion of Internet Explorer in Windows violates the competition law. Rated 4.3 with 18 votes 1 year, 6 months ago by Andrew Pociu Starting with Build 7048 of Windows 7, the notorious Internet Explorer browser, now at version 8, can be uninstalled from the Programs section of the Control Panel. Internet Explorer 8 is now an option in the large list of windows features just like Solitaire, Internet Information Services and the .NET Framework. Although Microsoft has yet to comment on the move of making Internet Explorer 8 an option in Windows 7, many speculate that this is in reaction to the numerous objections that the European Union has made against the inclusion of a web browser within the Windows operating system. Earlier this year, once again the EU has charged Microsoft with violating the European competition law by including the Internet Explorer browser in the Windows operating system for the past 13 years, and gave Microsoft two months to respond to these charges.

Current CommentsTo me, makes no difference either way. Maybe for the EU it will...
Let's face it, this will make no difference to their market share, so they would have made the browser optional a good while ago if faced with the lawsuit by the EU, but it wasn't possible because of how tightly it was integrated into the operating system.
Interesting...I really think this was kind of just original info. Something I can look up on my own.
It's about damn time. Technically though this doesn't *remove* Internet Explorer, it just deletes the iexplorer.exe, everything else is still there. Also it's quite involved it seems, needing someone to go into the Windows features and dealing with several restarts, most users will just ignore it like they always have.
Eventhough i dislike internet explorer who cares about EU? Who is EU anyway setting an European competition law after microsoft has been there before even EU was there and who is EU make law to judge others? It's up to microsoft to put whatever they want to put inside, it's microsoft platform anyway. People buy microsoft to use microsoft programs. Those who don't like microsoft can have a choice not to buy the platform from the first place instead.
Microsoft has unfairly used it's monopoly to force competition out of business, re-read the history between MS and Netscape and how MS muscled companies to install OEM versions of IE under threat to revoke the usage rights of Windows from that company.
No Need to uninstall it
its perfect browser
i like it
and win 7 too
EU wants its member country citizens to have a share in the world computer market, nothing is wrong with that it's fine and good butt... Microsoft has been working on IE for almost 25 years and has been the selection by millions of people including the EU citizens as thee standard internet browser and if a fight of competition should start, Chances are Microsoft IE will rule the internet browser market by almost 90% and of course sell it to get more richer than to provide it free.
wow finally ie is the most hated web browser in the world it just sucks ive tried to uninstal ie from xp for ever i hate it i think microsoft just needs to drop ie all together like they keep trying to make it good but fail opera is my favorite and why is everyone hating on eu? just because they realize that ie is horrible and they dont want it on windows 7 keep trying microsoft you gotta get back in the loop
u kno i started using computer back in 2000 never had the internet back then i got internet almost 4 years now funny thing is i never had a problem with I.E. today i don't use it i just cant get over FF.
i dont love IE and i have grown to relike it since version 8 all who say IE8 sucks is either brain dead or has never used it its no firefox but come on people need to stop lieing.
Hey Kevin..... IE8 sucks. It's got the slowest/worst rendering engine, it's security holes, whilst not as many as Firefox on average, take twice as long to be patched. It's a memory hog. Yeah, the list goes on.

kevin look man ie8 sucks i have been a tec. for years i have used most ies and 8 is by far the worst 7 is much better 8 has way to many problems
@tater1981 seriously? i i not a tec im a computer enthusiast i have FF as my main browser i love it bu u seriously think IE8 is worse than IE6 and 7 i hated those 2. I.E. 6 was why i left internet explorer I.E7 made me firm in leaving it but I.E. 8 is much lighter and faster i dont see much improvement as far as rendering goes but seed has always been my concern. when i hear people say I.E sucks i have to ask what I.E r they talkin about? compared to what does it suck? its a good browser not my fave but people need to stop bashing it for no good reason. i do wish microsoft would drop compatibility for the older version of I.E form its next version

keven yea man it has lots of probs it freezes up will not load some web pages i was using ie7 i to am useing ff but for over all ie7 was better the probs on ie8 didnt happen on ie7 and if they did it was not as often
for I.E 8 seriously i dont doubt that you had problems but i think maybe there us another underlying problem cuz for me I.E 6
IE8 Sucks too much. A program made while IE7 was in is completely screwed and you'll have to fiddle with ie7 mode quirks mode etc.
Wow! I had switched to firefox a long time ago.
you can remove internet explorer from any of microsofts os'es from 98 on up! give it a rest.............
Actually, no you can't. The Add/Remove Windows Component section in older verisions of Windows just removed the shortcuts from the start menu.
