Windows Vista 2007 already has MinWin

Whatever you want to discuss about Windows Vienna / 7, here is the appropriate place to do it.

Windows Vista 2007 already has MinWin

Postby cybx on Mon Jul 14, 2008 2:01 pm

Despite the numerous quotes of Vienna's kernel being brand new, not only Server Core contains MinWin, but Windows Vista 2007, Microsoft quotes that the build 6001, contains a large portion of MinWin source code, discussed at the conference by Eric Traut.
Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7 shipping is reported to be a 'fraud', either MinWin is fake or the story that it is brand new in Vienna.
Microsoft has already named the ACTUAL Server Core of Windows Server 2008 MinWin, and not the kernel, seen as all it uses is WindowsPE (Pre-installed Environment (LiveCD)) and WindowsNT (New Technology, or NeoliThic Technology?) to run a small, energy effecient server environment.
But MicroSoft claims MinWin is not just the kernel it is the Windows API (the C++ class that is called by the kernel made in C++, that when called by Win32 Applications, contacts the drivers that connect to the hardware (the certain functions within them), drivers are designed in C++ and ASM (low-level languages for the hardware)), Windows NT's executable (ntoskrnl.exe) is only actually already 3.30 MB in size, unlike XP's secure 10 MB one, thus already 'MinWin', although Drivers are minimal as they can be, ASM code could be reduced in lag, so they work a tiny nano-second faster (wow, how sad is that, no wonder why M$ are geeks), then its just the millions of Core Libraries in the C:\Windows folder (discluding drivers, applications and the tiny kernel), they could do with tweaking up in speed and code being reduced, which will take ages ~ just try counting the files, let alone code them. Then .NET came out, making it a bit bigger, which will be improved seperately. Then the unused programs that M$ couldn't be bothered to move, because it makes the OS look bigger and worth the money they take in mass profit, no one uses (apart from eccentric that are already dead from brain overloads).
All in all, Windows could use a good 2GB, but in total of the OS, there is just 7GB, we could get a Linux/Mac sized OS at 5GB, really all we need is speed and a better Windows Manager, MS is too bothered in cramming in stuff we don't need, instead in making Windows better.
I've researched for 2 days for you all, and I hope you understand MS is one big rip off.
If we all invest our own logic, and learning coding we could be looking at a free, better future with Linux, but Linux looks crap to us, because no one wants to change how the desktop looks, thanks to Gnome and KDE, with their crap art ideas, although driver support in Ubuntu has improved incredibly fast just in the last month, Wine and Minix has improved and all we need is WineX to be free and a powerful, nicely designed desktop, with I hope a glossy, glassy design. More people are moving from Linux, to OS design and then back to Windows, like me or just from Linux to Windows to Mac to Windows to Linux to Mac, etc, etc. Basically we're bored of Vista aren't we. I love computers as they provide communication and information unlike any other facility could do in reality, its neat and (excluding Vista), clean. I programme for my work in free time, on projects such as Dolby and Sony software for IBM especially, and being on PCs all the time, nothing changes but news of dates of new OSs, making me B-O-R-E-D, thats why I come here, or Yahoo Answers in my free time, M$ has destroyed my life and turned me into an all obeying Office zombie, maybe I'm turning into a geek? If so help me!
Excuse me for wondering off the topic in this already extremely long post, I'm sure I've posted a longer forum post than all posts combined on the internet (extremely exagerrating, feels like it though) ~ getting my English and Grammar right word for word. I just want you to know I'm going to assassinate Bill Gates for making my life painstaking.
I will end here, in the conclusion, M® G@T35 15 @ @$!* L1@®

PS means Post Script in type-writing letters.
The kernel may be reduced in lag and size, but the core modules are not, like drivers and other hardware accessing libraries, etc. Basically, not everything is there, so its a half/half situation, though M$ is facing a lawsuit if they ship.

As I've said before I have a MacBook, with BootCamp it runs super-fast and smooth, it never crashes.
I'm trying out another laptop soon for portability, I will tell you how well Vista runs on it, called the Advent 5401. Its a home PC but I wanted to try the PC World product line (UK). Seen as I always buy from Kelkoo.
But, Vista certainly is fast.
P.S. Yash-Qwe have you tested Vienna yet, you'll have to either clock-back the emulation clock or the BIOS clock if your running it under the PC.
I wanted to let you know Windows 7's latest build is 64-bit only, and I have Intel Core 2 Duo on all my PCs, which is 32-bit with modular 64-bit mapping, does anyone know this would be compatible with LD linker, I'm trying to use Windows 7's library files in assembly to patch and compare with the next build (for 64-bit).
Thanks.
CybX.
